Career Firsts: Kanye West Tops Hip Hop’s Forbes List for The First Time Ever
Mr. West is in the building! And it’s quite the surprise...
Kanye West is the new cash king for this year’s Hip Hop Forbes list, ranking #1 for the first time ever passing artists like Jay Z, and Drake.
The top spot win is all thanks to his shoe line ‘Yeezy’ with Adidas that’s expected to rake in $1.5 billion in sales this year—or about half of what Nike’s Air Jordan pulls in. This major feat will boost his pretax income to $150 million.
‘Ye’s alienated big brother, Jay Z, comes in at the number 2 spot with $81 million maintained by the On The Run II tour. Drake, the most streamed artist of any genre, rounded out the top 3 with $75 million.
Others on the list include Diddy ($70M), Cardi B. ($28M), Nicki Minaj ($29M), DJ Khaled ($40M) and Kendrick Lamar ($38.5M).

But before we do that, can we call out the fact that some of these artists haven’t even put out new music this year?! Bosses.
